A personal message to you lurking Jehovah's Witnesses out there
by Terry inwhile you were sitting in that uncomfortable folding chair the other night.... listening to something you've heard already a thousand times before.... do you know what was happening at the same time?.
somebody somewhere else was studying a real textbook.
somebody was cramming for a college exam.

Well said Terry and so true. I was a JW my entire life, [49 years] I was of that 1975 generation fiasco. When I was chemically poisoned at work [dry-cleaners] the state I lived in was a 'no-fault] workers compensation state, which means I only got a small settlement and now I have to depend on a mere $590 a month social security disability and my husband for support. Because of my chemical sensitivities I cannot go back to school, I cannot go out and work etc. I'm not bitter, just angry that I wanted to be a veternarian and my parents said 'No'. I would have had a career, I wouldn't have gotten poisoned. And now because I told my mother that I can't belong to a religious organization that doesn't give a shit about us she shuns my family and I. If this is the way they treated my little brother then I can understand why he killed himself! He had nobody. At least I have my husband, daughter & son in law.
But I do believe one good thing has come out of my health problem. I saw the friends and family for what the love truly was. The minute you cannot go to the Kingdom Hall and go out in service, you are NOTHING. I even had my own mother in law tell me I was going to die at armeggedon because I cannot serve Jehovah like I was supposed to.
Their love, even family members is CONDITIONAL

HAPPY OFFICIALLY INACTIVE DAY!!!
We want to thank the friend that had the courage to speak up and talk to us. It's also great that all 4 of us came out together! That feels even better. Even tho the rest of the family is still in and shunning us. At least we have each other and all of you.
Group hug!

All my JW friends dont like me.

they have even slandered and said i not worthy to talk to.
then of course, there are the rumours... needless to say, i am pretty depressed..

I understand how you are feeling. My mother in law has called everyone we know and told them that we were talking against the organization and went apostate. Hubby didn't say anything except something he had found in a WATCHTOWER. Now everyone we know is shunning us and no one else has even bothered to ask us if its true or not.
So hang in there and find some real friends like we are doing that are not as judgemental.
Peace to you and a big hug

Has Your Personality Changed Since Leaving The Witnesses?
by minimus ini have an aquaintance that likes to say, "once an a hole always an a hole".
i guess you could reason that whatever your religious views were, your core is you are who you are.. did your personality change for better or worse when you left the organization?.

Hubby & I have noticed a big difference. We're more tolerant of people in general. Non-JW's aren't evil and trying to make us sin, there are actually some really nice people out there and we're making some good friends that isn't based on conditional love. They don't care if we go to the meetings or not. Stress level has gone way down.

I'm new here
by WrongweektostopsniffingGlue ini haven't got much of a story.
i'm in my late teens, grew up in it, and got out of the society's regime by the skin of my teeth.
nearly go baptized because i firmly did believe it was the "truth" but because of a gut feeling that held me back, that i almost ignored, i didn't sign my blood to big brother.
